Assessments & Extensions

1. Candidate Assessment Procedure

  1. The assessment is integrated into the online training programme. You will write this on your own.
  2. Our assessors are well-trained and technically competent, and will only assess candidates within their scope of experience and knowledge.
  3. We have created flexible, individualised assessment opportunities, tailored to your specific context. The Assessment is based on the most appropriate methods of assessment and forms of evidence for our candidates.
  4. All assessments will be conducted in a manner that is fair, valid and consistent. Consistent assessment is ensured through compliance with internal and external moderation systems.
  5. Assessments are conducted in an open environment. Assessment requirements are stated in the assessment module within the H&S Rep Training course. The assessment process will be initiated and managed by candidates. We aim to ensure the assessment is a positive and motivating experience for candidates.
  6. Accurate recording and reporting of assessment results will be maintained.
  7. The requirements of the Privacy Act 1993 will be upheld. Assessors will not collect more personal information than is necessary for the administration of the assessment process.
  8. On completion of all the unit standards for a certificate course, The Learning Place will issue a certificate (after a $5 fee is paid). This process can take 10-15 working days from final completion.

2. Expiry Dates

You have 45 days to complete the course and assessment from the day you register with us. If you have not finished the course within the 45 days, your account will expire and will be deleted. Approximately one week before your expiry date, we will send you a reminder email with a specific date and time you are to have your assessment submitted by. Please ensure your assessment has been submitted by the stated day and time, or contact us before the expiry date to request an extension.

3. Restoring Your Account

If you’ve missed your expiry date your account was deleted, you can restore it by paying a $50 fee. This option is valid up to 6 months after your account was originally opened. Please email us at info@gethns.co.nz to get more information on how to restore your account.

If your account was opened more than 6 months ago, we do require the student to pay the full fee of $150 and retake the course in its entirety. This is to ensure that the student has a good and recent understanding of the content of the course when representing workings in health and safety matters.

4. Extensions

In cases of emergencies, illnesses and bereavement leave, we can grant extensions on a case-by-case basis for up to 2 weeks. Please email us at info@gethns.co.nz to request an extension form.

If an additional extension is required, a $50 administration fee needs to be paid to us first. For more details, please e-mail info@healthandsafetyrep.co.nz

5. Cancellations and refunds

Your account can be cancelled at any time during the course. We can only consider the refund of the full costs of the course if the invitation to Kura Cloud has not been accepted by the student.
If the invitation to Kuracloud has been accepted and the student would like to withdraw from the course, the student needs to contact us within 2 calendar days of signing up on our website. A maximum refund of up to 50% can then be considered. To withdrawn or request a refund, please email us to info@gethns.co.nz
