FAQs

1. Why should I do my Health and Safety Representative Training online?

Completing your Health and Safety Representative training online (powered by The Learning Place) will save you time and money. It is the most cost effective option offered in New Zealand, and you can obtain it all from the comfort of your own home, a café or workplace! You’re able to move at your own pace, instead of cramming it all in in a day course, and you have access to our support team to help you every step of the way.

2. Is the quality of the course as good as going to a class?

Yes! The course material for the Health and Safety Representative unit standards and the assessment have been pre-moderated by the standard setting body to ensure our students receive as much from our course as they would from a face-to-face course. We have developed the course to provide you with the most up to date information, and in a format that is easy to follow.

3. Do I need to be able to speak English well to do this course?

Yes, the Unit Standards for the different courses are Level 3 and Level 4, and will require you to be able to speak a fairly high level of English. If you are unsure if you are at an appropriate level, visit this website:  https://www.ielts.org  and take a practice test.

4. How long will it take me to complete the course?

Stage 1: This depends on the amount of prior knowledge you have, and you may be surprised by how much you already know! It should take no longer than 8 hours, but if you have some prior knowledge and experience, it will likely take you less time.

Stage 2: This depends on the amount of prior knowledge you have. This course consists of 1 Unit Standard and requires more time than Stage 1. It should take no longer than 8 hours, but if you have some prior knowledge and experience, it will likely take you less time.

5. How long do I have to complete the course?

We allow 45 days for you to complete the course and assessment from the day you enrol.

6. What if I don’t get a chance to complete it within the 45 days?

Please see the information provided in the Learner Handbook regarding extensions

7. What if I’m stuck on a question?

No problem! Our support team is here to help you every step of the way, and point you in the right direction if/when you are stuck. Feel free to email us at info@gethns.co.nz or ring us on 0800 800 415 extension 1

8. How do you know it is actually me filling out the assessment? Couldn’t just anyone complete the course for me?

When you enrol for the course, you are providing us with your personal information. To get someone else to do the course for you is a fraudulent act. The Health and Safety Representative training is compliance-based training, and the safety of your colleagues depends on you. If you don’t know what you are doing in the position, you could potentially be putting other people and yourself at risk. We also ask you to upload a photo of your photo of yourself holding valid photo ID to verify your identity at the start of the assessment.

When you fill in the assessment, you are not to discuss your answers with anyone else; this includes other candidates, your colleagues, friends or family.

When you complete the enrolment process, you are asked to confirm that you have read and understood the Learner Handbook. If you are found to have copied someone else’s work or discussed your answers with someone, you will be considered guilty of plagiarism and will be removed from the learning platform – pending official judgement from The Learning Place’s Academic Manager.

9. If I sign in and out, will my learning be saved or will I need to start from scratch again?

Yes, our clever learning platform (kuraCloud) saves all of your progress automatically, so you can log in and out as many times as you’d like, and it will always keep the spot you left off on. No pressure to get it all done in one sitting!

10. How do I log in to the course?

If you have enrolled in one of our online courses, you will have received an email with a link directly to our online learning platform. This link allows you to create a password.

Once you have used this link and created your password, you can log back in at any time during your course by going to www.kuracloud.com and logging in with your email address and the password you created when you signed up.

If you didn't receive your invitation link, or are unable to log back in, please call us between 9am and 4pm weekdays on 0800 800 415 ext 1 for support.
